AI Act - Impact of the regulation of Artificial Intelligence on 3D Printing
Overview of the main provisions of the AI Act and application examples, sensitization for legal action requirements when using AI in general in the company and especially in the context of additive manufacturing processes

The use of AI systems in companies in general and in the Additive Manufacturing value chain in particular offers considerable potential. AI applications are already widely used in areas such as human resources and customer service. Here, for example, AI can make the recruitment process more efficient through automated CV screenings and the analysis of applicant data, and AI-supported analyses can help to measure employee satisfaction and develop measures to improve working conditions. In customer service, for example, AI-driven chatbots can answer customer queries and thus improve customer service and make internal processes more efficient. There are also a wide range of AI applications on the market for additive manufacturing. These range from design development using AI and the optimization of production processes to solutions for process optimization (e.g. identification of optimal printing parameters for different materials and components, predictions of component properties) and quality assurance (e.g. inline monitoring and error detection using AI). Based on these application scenarios, the presentation will highlight the legal requirements that companies must comply with when the AI Act came into force last year. The presentation provides practical recommendations for the legally compliant use of AI in companies and highlights initial experiences with the new AI law.
