Mr. Cremer, what topics are you offering this year?

As always, we try to highlight the current activities of automobile manufacturers in the field of additive manufacturing, as there are hardly any comparable events. This year, the focus is on motorsport. Renault is sending its Alpine Formula One team to the rapid.tech 3D specialist conference with a keynote speech, and Audi is sending its Sauber Motorsport team to the Mobility specialist forum. Both teams have discovered additive manufacturing for themselves over the decades and have benefited from its use in their own applications.

rapid.tech 3D has a strong user focus. What can visitors learn from Formula 1 for everyday industrial use?

A great deal. In both cases, it's about achieving speed, saving time, and translating innovations into performance. The other presentations will demonstrate how this happens in everyday production. Mercedes-Benz will report on the conditions under which hybrid additively manufactured tool components lead to greater flexibility and efficiency in the series production of body parts. Mann & Hummel will demonstrate why hydrogen and additive manufacturing are not mutually exclusive in state-of-the-art engine technology.

What motivates you to get involved with rapid.tech 3D year after year?

I've been associated with the Erfurt event for almost two decades. It's the heart of additive manufacturing, and it's a place for unlimited networking. I really enjoy the opportunity to present presentations "hot off the press," so to speak, and to provide a platform for AM topics in mobility. I particularly value the collaboration with my fellow advisory board members.
