At rapid.tech 3D 2025 we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the 3D Pioneers Challenge

The international competition for additive manufacturing processes and advanced technologies has already looked for creative minds nine times and has repeatedly asked the question “What is already possible?”.  Where are realistic applications in the industry and which best practices are already being implemented? The 3D Pioneers Challenge seeks out and supports the pioneers who are pursuing precisely these ground-breaking approaches. Unique in its structure, the competition has been addressing specialists who think outside the box since 2015 - pushing boundaries!

10 years of the 3D Pioneers Challenge - looking for pioneers of the decade!

Since 2015, the competition for additive manufacturing and pioneering technologies has recognized dozens of innovations that have pushed the boundaries of what is possible, inspired the industry and thus significantly advanced it.

From students and start-ups to research institutes and industry giants - year after year, the submissions have become more international and numerous, the categories more diverse and the jury participation more cross-industry.

The anniversary gives all previous finalists and winners the chance to compete again and face the jury's judgment. Who will make it into the Hall of Fame?

>> Applications for the anniversary edition are possible from January 20, 2025 at www.3dpc.io

Come to Erfurt to see the anniversary expo of 3DPC live

What became of it? What happened next? What are the lessons learned? Experience finalist and winning projects from nine rounds of the 3D Pioneers Challenge in a special area at rapid.tech 3D.

All finalists and winners from the last decade will have the chance to face the high-caliber jury again. Who will make it into the “Who's Who” at the special exhibition?

That was the 3D Pioneers Challenge 2024...

The 9th edition of the international design competition for additive manufacturing and advanced technologies focused on the “Collaborative Mindset”.

The 2024 competition was organized in eleven different disciplines, which were derived from the questions “WHAT, HOW, WHY ... we design and make”.

The jury selected 43 finalists from the total submissions from 25 countries on 5 continents.  One trend was clearly recognizable: Responsible production (the use and development of sustainable materials and recyclable processes) was a clear focus for many 3DPC2024 finalists.

The 3DPC2024 Main Prize Winner was the 3D Printed Electronic Skin project from Texas A&M University.  All winners from 2024 can be found >> HERE.

The prize money of 35,000 euros was provided with the kind support of the Thuringian Ministry of Economics, Science and Digital Society.
